Who is eligible for Rebuilding Together services?
Low-income homeowners, particularly elderly, physically challenged and families with children who are not able to do or afford the work themselves are eligible for rebuilding services, as are the non-profit facilities that serve them. If you are, or know someone who may be eligible, please let us know so that we may send out an application. You may also print one from our website.
All applications must be postmarked by December 31st to be considered for current year. Applications received after December 31st will be considered for the following year

How are Rebuilding Together projects selected?
Community organizations, service groups, churches/synagogues and individuals, etc. refer projects to RT Marin. Individual homeowners may request our services directly. Upon qualification of the application, members of the House Selection Committee, along with a skilled trades person (contractor) make a preliminary site visit. The RT Marin Board of Directors makes the final decision, based on established criteria, including need (safety issues first) and resource availability.
Please be aware that we receive more applications than our resources are able to accommodate. If your home is not selected, you are welcome to re apply for the following year.

Important information about the application process
  1. To be eligible for our program the applicant must be able to verify:

    •
Residence and home ownership in Marin County
That they meet our income guidelines (HUD)
That they have no plans to sell their home within the next 3 years

  2. If your home is selected, you will be contacted no later than mid-February (prior to the April workday...always the LAST Saturday in April). Please remember that this is essentially a one-day project. We probably will not be able to fix everything, but a lot of improvements will be made for you. Able-bodied family members will be expected to work with the Rebuilding Together volunteer team.

  3. If your home is selected, you must:

    •
Sign a 'Homeowners Agreement and Release from Liability' form
Cooperate in preparing your home for the workday, if preparation is necessary. (i.e. moving or packing valuables and breakables) Your House Captain will review this with you.
Write a thank you letter to the volunteers who donate their time, labor and care.
There is NO CHARGE for the repair services completed by the Rebuilding Together volunteers.
Any Social Service benefits you receive will not be affected if you receive services from Rebuilding Together.
